Project Scope:  
Great Northern Engineering was contracted by Delta Western to design a new (6) tank bulk fuel tank farm at the Port of Anchorage. The project was a multi-year Scope of Work which was broken up into several Design-build phases. GNE teamed with Roger Hickel Contracting to complete the work. Final storage capacity of the new tank farm will exceed 300,000 barrels.

image All engineering work was provided in accordance with the requirements of the latest applicable local, State of Alaska, and National regulations and codes.

Project Details:

  • Provided the Site Prep Phase which included a soils and geotechnical evaluation of
            the site to determine site conditions and future site prep / structural requirements
            for Phase I;
  • Worked with Delta Western and several government agencies to mitigate
            contaminated soils and site conditions;
  • Provided Phase I design which included the terminal facility and Tanker Truck
            Loading Rack (TTLR);
  • Provided Phase II design which included civil, site prep, drainage, secondary
            containment, all connections to POAVY, a Vapor Combustion Unit (VCU),
            and initial 50,000 bbl tankage;
  • Providing Phase III design which includes a concrete-injection soil stabilization design,
            secondary containment, & (2) additional 50,000 bbl storage tanks;
  • Future Phase IV design will include a Rail Car Loading Rack (RCLR), tankage for an
            additional 150,000 bbl, and all required infrastructure and battery limit connections.
