Port of Anchorage, Plant 1 Tank Farm

Project Scope:  
GNE provide American Petroleum Institute (API) 653 compliant tank inspections and certification reports for Tank 4, Tank 8, and Tank 9 of the Port of Anchorage Plant 1 Tank Farm.

All engineering services were provided in accordance with the requirements of the latest applicable local, State, and Federal regulations and codes.

Project Details:

  • Provided an API Standard 653 authorized inspector to examine, test, and certify the above listed tanks.
  • Formal out of service inspection of above ground tanks
  • Magnetic Tank Flux Exclusion Bottom Scan
  • Edge settlement survey, calculations, and evaluation
  • Ultrasonic thickness measurements of tank bottom, shell, and roof
  • Involved comparison of original as-built thicknesses with current thickness measurements to establish a corrosion factor and inspection interval recommendation based on the estimated rate of corrosion
  • Internal coating inspection, dry film thickness evaluation
  • Final , full report with all corrosion calculations, test results, and recommendations related to certifying the tanks for continued use.
