Project Scope:  
Provided design and construction engineering services to construct a hardstand refueling apron in support of the new Concourse C Terminal Building and for the $900,000 jet fuel distribution and delivery system at the Anchorage International Airport. The refueling apron consists of aircraft parking positions at a total of nine full-service C Concourse Gates.

Provided an initial in-depth study of fueling system alternatives and provided design parameters to ensure the design complied with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry performance standards.

Project Details:

  • Designed and built the fuel system to operate at 285 psig for refueling delivery rates of up to 600 gpm per hydrant location
  • Designed extension of a new 16 diameter distribution pipeline from an existing utility vault near Post Mark Road to distribute fuel to each hydrant service point
  • Designed the replacement of catch basins, site drainage infrastructure, as well as electrical taxiway lighting and emergency fuel shut downs
  • Designed a set of hydrant fueling pits located at each gate for under-wing refueling of the design aircraft
  • Provided construction support services for this project
  • Construction support services included an on-site owners representative fore the duration of the project to coordinate with the Department of Transportation and contractor construction personnel
  • Provided submittal reviews, on site inspections, daily technical support as well as record as-built drawings for the completed project
  • The on-site construction manager ensured that the project was completed on time, within the construction budget, and in conformance with the design specifications
